Materials that are typically used for interior signs are acrylic, PVC, foam panels and metals. Metals are generally used in high-end office building, and are typically laminates on dimensional letters or used for trim on very elegant directory signs.

Acrylics(also known as plexigalss) are used in nearly every type of interior sign. Clear acrylics with matte non-glare surfaces are excellent for back-lit directories, suite signs and very classy lobby signs.

PVC is an extruded foam product, and is fairly inexpensive, and easy to use. Signs made from PVC are usually temporary signs, lobby signs and information signs, like small signs at a receptionist area.

Gatorfoam, or other foam panel materials are used for high-end lobby signs. Material thickness can vary depending on application, as the material can be up to 3″ thick.
